Chennai Factory
Let us tell you that Chennai Integral Coach Factory is the world’s largest rail coach manufacturing factory. According to the information, more than 4000 coaches are made here every year for the last few years. At the same time, by June 2024, this Integral Coach Factory had prepared 75000 railway coaches. These also include Vande Bharat coaches. Let us tell you that there are two main divisions in the Integral Coach Factory. The first is the Shell Division and the second is the Furnishing Division. There are 14 different units in the Shell Division, which together build the structure of the train coach. At the same time, after the construction of the coach, it is placed on the wheel set. There are units in the Furnishing Division. These units do the furnishing inside the coach, painting outside, light work in the coach and other work of the coach.
Inaugurated in 1955
Chennai Integral Coach Factory was inaugurated in 1955 by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Integral Coach Factory is one of the earliest production units. The furnishing division was inaugurated on 2 October 1962. At that time, the construction of Chennai Integral Coach Factory cost Rs 7 crore 47 lakh.
Railway coaches export
Not only this, along with making Made in India coaches in Chennai Integral Coach Factory, coaches are also ordered from abroad. According to the information, the first export was to Thailand in 1967. At the same time, it has been exported to more than 13 African-Asian countries.
